Founded in 1991 during a defining period in Armenia’s history, Yerevan Haybusak University (YHU) was created in response to the needs of a newly independent country and its emerging education system. From the beginning, the University’s mission has been to provide an accessible academic environment and create opportunities for students to pursue education and professional development regardless of their financial background.
Today, Haybusak is a new-generation educational institution that combines the strengths of private and public education. It creates an environment where students can grow not only as qualified professionals, but also as creative thinkers, responsible individuals, and active contributors to their communities.
A Multidisciplinary University with Real-World Experience
YHU is a multidisciplinary university complex bringing together four institutes and 40 clinical and specialised centres. Over more than three decades, the University has established itself as a trusted partner, an experienced guide, and a lifelong part of its graduates’ professional journeys.
Today, YHU offers education across 18 specialities, providing students with both strong academic foundations and practical professional skills. Beyond their primary field of study, students have the opportunity to develop additional competencies and explore related disciplines, creating a broader and more flexible educational experience.
The University places strong emphasis on developing social responsibility, analytical and critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to non-standard situations. Students are encouraged to understand the wider social impact of their future profession and continuously evaluate their academic and professional development.

Haybusak is the only university in Armenia that brings together medical, legal, humanitarian, economic, and applied decorative and design education within one multidisciplinary academic environment.
This unique combination encourages collaboration between different fields and gives students opportunities to participate in joint projects, scientific conferences, and international grant programmes.
Research is an important part of the University’s academic culture. YHU faculty members conduct research across a wide range of disciplines, organise scientific conferences, publish academic collections, and develop educational and methodological materials. Their research findings are also published through internationally recognised academic platforms, including Scopus and Web of Science.

Strategy, Development & Educational Excellence
Guided by its strategic goals and development priorities, Yerevan Haybusak University continuously advances its educational programs, research activities, and quality assurance systems. The University develops scientific projects, strengthens academic quality standards, and continuously modernizes its educational infrastructure.
A key priority is the development of practical skills and professional competencies. In recent years, the University has upgraded its specialized training facilities and created new opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience and prepare for successful professional careers.
Practice, Innovation & International Projects
YHU is committed to creating a modern, practice-oriented learning environment. In 2019, the University laid the foundation for its Medical Simulation Centre, which continues to evolve and provide students with opportunities to develop essential clinical skills in a safe and controlled environment. This development has also enabled the University to participate in the international Erasmus SAFEMED+ project.
The University’s Dental Clinic, initially established as a training facility for developing students’ practical competencies, has grown into a polyclinic structure providing services to the wider community. The Psychological Service Centre and Juridical Lab further expand opportunities for practical learning and professional development.
YHU aims to be more than an educational institution — it strives to serve as a centre of innovation and technology, contributing to economic development and strengthening Armenia’s professional potential.

Yerevan Haybusak University actively participates in the international educational community. The University has taken part in numerous international education exhibitions in Moscow, Aleppo, Damascus, Beirut, Tbilisi, Kyiv, Yerevan, and other cities, while receiving various awards recognising the quality of its education.
YHU follows a shared governance model inspired by leading universities around the world. Professors, staff, students, and other members of the University community are active participants in its development and decision-making processes.
Students contribute not only through the Student Council, but also through the Scientific Council, University Council, and Institute Councils. YHU graduates also play an important role in shaping the University’s future. Many have become successful professionals and employers whose experience and understanding of modern market needs help the University identify new priorities and opportunities for development.
