Discussion on the topic “Active learning and digital technologies in the learning process: mobile learning and gamification”

 

On 7 February, Yerevan State University held a discussion on the topic of active learning and digital technologies in the learning process: mobile learning and gamification. That was the last event of the series initiated by the National Erasmus+ office in Armenia within the framework of the Erasmus+ PRINTel project. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize the participants with new digital tools and applications to integrate students into lessons.

The meeting was attended by E. Melkonyan, lecturer at the Institute of Medicine, and the development and quality assurance team.

Participants received certificates for all the training sessions attended.

Discussion on Blended/Hybrid Teaching and Learning topic

 

On 3 February, Yerevan State University held a discussion on blended/hybrid teaching and learning. Initiated by the National Erasmus+ office in Armenia within the framework of the Erasmus+ PRINTel project, the meeting was organised to discuss the blended and hybrid methods in HEIs. Hybrid learning combines online and offline studies, while blended learning complements the in-class learning experience with online material.

Lecturers of the Institute of Medicine G. Galoyan and L. Yengibaryan, and Quality Assurance Coordinator M. Hovhannisyan attended the meeting.

Discussion on Videos as a Learning Tool

On 2 February, Yerevan State University organised a discussion on videos as a learning tool. The National Erasmus+ office in Armenia initiated the meeting within the framework of the Erasmus+ PRINTel project to present the methods and means of making videos for educational purposes.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Graduate Employment and Career Centre and manager of the study programme working groups N. Hovsepyan, lecturer at the Institute of Medicine E. Avagyan, and Development and Quality Assurance Coordinator M. Hovhannisyan.

Discussion on the Implementation of the Flipped Classroom Model

 

On 1 February, within the framework of the Erasmus+ PRINTel project, Yerevan State University held a discussion on the advantages and limitations of the flipped classroom model initiated by the National Erasmus+ office in Armenia.

The purpose of the meeting was to share the knowledge gained within the project with the participants – teachers from other HEIs.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Research Resource Centre M. Matosyan, the head of the Graduate Employment and Career Centre and manager of the study programme working groups N. Hovsepyan, and Development and Quality Assurance Coordinator M. Hovhannisyan.

Discussion of Active Learning and the Implementation of Active Learning Methods in the Context of Digital Learning Environment

On 31 January, Yerevan State University presented the implementation of active learning methods in the context of the digital learning environment. The purpose of the meeting initiated by the National Erasmus+ office in Armenia within the framework of the PRINTel project was to share the knowledge gained within the project.

PARTICIPATION IN ONLINE SUMMER SCHOOL “ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE HUMAN HEALTH”

On September 6–13, 2021, Anahit Hakobjanyan, PhD, lecturer of the Institute of Medicine of Yerevan Haybusak University, participated in the Online Summer School “Environmental Science Education for Sustainable Human Health” held within the framework of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building MENVIPRO project.

Dr. A. Hakobjanyan was awarded a certificate for her participation and successful accomplishment of the Online Summer School. 

The course was designed for researchers concerned with the fields and thematic of environment, pollution, food safety, and risk assessment.

WORKSHOP ON EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING ONLINE

On December 16, 2020, a workshop on Effective Strategies for Teaching Online was organized by the National Erasmus+ office in Armenia.

The workshop was led by Anna Gevorgyan, Erasmus+ Higher Education Reform Expert, adjunct lecturer at the American University of Armenia.

She presented 2 models for online learning — SAMR and TCPK. The participants were actively involved in 2 group discussions.

At the end of the workshop Lana Karlova, Programme Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ office in Armenia and Anna Gevorgyan, workshop creator decided to organize a series of webinars in the future.

From Yerevan Haybusak University the workshop was attended by Mariam Hovhannisyan, specialist of the Education Quality Assurance Center.

TRAINING ENTITLED "POLICIES AND STRUCTURES OF DOCTORAL EDUCATION"

On July 15-17 was conducted the training in the framework of REFORMING DOCTORAL EDUCATION IN ARMENIA IN LINE WITH NEEDS OF ACADEMIA, INDUSTRY AND CURRENT EU PRACTICES (ARMDOCT) project within of the Erasmus+ Programme, which aims at Reforming Doctoral Education (DE) in Armenia in line with the Salzburg Principles, particularly through the development and revision of national policy, a legal framework (including by-laws) and institutional procedures supporting integrative and internationally-oriented doctoral studies involving universities, research institutions, and industry.

From Yerevan Haybusak University the webinar was attended by Anna Sukiasyan, Head of the Education Quality Assurance Center and Mariam Hovhannisyan, specialist of the Center.

SEMINAR FOR PHILOLOGISTS AND TEACHERS OF RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

On November 21-22, 2019 Karine Osipova, Malvina Midoyan and Lilia Petrosova, lecturers in the Russian language participated in a seminar for philologists and teachers of the Russian language at Yerevan V. Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences and accordingly received certificates.

TRAINING BY EDUCATION QUALITY ASSURANCE CENTER OF HAYBUSAK UNIVERSITY

The trainings conducted by the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC) organized in Yerevan Haybusak University are in progress. This time the training was held on 30 May 2019. It was conducted by Anna Sukiasyan (PhD in Biological Sciences, Associate Professor) who is the Head of the EQAC, and by Martin Abrahamyan (Professor, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics), Vice-Rector of Yerevan Haybusak University.

The training was organized for the whole teaching staff of the University. A. Sukiasyan presented the training topic which was devoted to “Higher Professional Education System”. The participants had the opportunity to learn about Haybusak University’s problems, study programs, credit system as well as to address their questions to A. Sukiasyan.

M. Abrahamyan presented the topic on “Requirements Set for Preparation of Scientific Articles”. The participants of the training had the opportunity to get familiar with the requirements and general standards set for publishing scientific works in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.

TRAINING ON EDUCATION QUALITY ASSURANCE

The trainings organized by the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC) in Yerevan Haybusak University were launched. The trainings were organized for the teaching staff of all the faculties of the University. 

On 29 April 2019 the first training was held. It was conducted by Anna Sukiasyan (PhD in Biological Sciences, Associate Professor) who is the Head of the EQAC, and by Deputy Head Gaspar Avagyan (PhD in Philosophy, Associate Professor).

A. Sukiasyan presented the institutional accreditation criteria to the teachers, provided clarifications about the requirements set for the mentioned criteria and answered the questions given by the participants. G. Avagyan presented the process relating to the “Organization of Surveys among Stakeholders in the University”. The participants had the opportunity to express their opinions and to clarify a number of issues.

On February 4-5, 2019 Anna Sukiasyan, Head of the Education Quality Assurance Center of Haybusak University, Narine Hovsepyan, Vice Head of the Center, Mariam Hovhannsiyan and Arshaluys Harutyunyan, employees of the Center, Sona Hovhannisyan, Vice-Rector, Anna Haruyunyan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Zhenik Minasyan and Tsoghik Poghosyan, lecturers of the Faculty of Economics and Arevik Khugeyan, lecturer of the faculty of Humanities participated in the Erasmus+ programme seminar on “Driving University Strategies towards the Internationalization through the Use of International Benchmarks” at Eurasian International University.

Irina Ferencz, Deputy Director of the Academic Cooperation Association of Belgium (ACA) delivered a presentation at the seminar, introducing examples of benchmarking at national and international levels. The participants did team workshops and received certificates.

On 6-7 November the Erasmus+ Information Days were organized in National Agrarian University of Armenia during which the following problems were discussed with students and academic community: 

  • international credit mobility,
  • capacity building in higher education.

Among invited guests Alexandr Ritov who is the Head of the Department of International Relations of Belarus State University, Dorota Ritvanska, responsible contact point of mobility programs of the Erasmus+ National Agency as well as coordinators of Erasmus+ projects of Slutsky Pomeranian University of Poland were present in the event.

The representatives of Yerevan Haybusak University, namely, Narine Hovsepyan, Deputy Head of the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC); Mariam Hovhannisyan, Specialist of the EQAC; Anna Harutyunyan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics; teachers of the same faculty – Alexander Avagyan, Gayane Gevorgyan; teachers of the Faculty of Humanities – Naira Apresyan, Tehmine Gomtsyan, Arevik Khugeyan and Armine Vahanyan, as well as foreign students of the Faculty of Medicine – Shant Zenian, Mohammed Sami Dhanun Hameed Alamsha, Ahmed Imad Salim and Feryal Vehbe, also participated in the mentioned event.

SEMINAR ORGANIZED WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF ERASMUS+ PROJECT ON “QUALITY ASSURANCE OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH”

On 15-16 October 2018 a regional seminar on the topic of “Quality Assurance of Scientific Research” organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ project was held in Yerevan State University. In the seminar a number of problems were discussed, in particular, the effective struggle against plagiarism, assurance of successful and high-quality scientific work, compliance of scientific work with labor market requirements, quality assurance mechanisms of research, etc.

The seminar was conducted by local and foreign experts from Croatia, Tbilisi, Sweden and Ukraine. The representatives of Yerevan Haybusak University, namely Anna Sukiasyan, Head of the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC); Mariam Hovhannisyan, Specialist of the EQAC, Stepan Voskanyan, Dean of the Design Faculty; Ruzan Petrosyan, teacher of the same faculty; Yeva Torosyan, Head of the Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics as well as Tigran Petrosyan, teacher of the Faculty of Medicine, also participated in the seminar.

TRAINING ON INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION

On 19-20 September a training on institutional accreditation was organized in Yerevan Haybusak University. The training was conducted by Heli Mattisen and Hillar Bauman who are experts of the EKKA (Estonian Quality Agency for Higher and Vocational Education).

During the training the participants actively discussed and analyzed institutional accreditation regulations and were involved in group works. 

Yerevan Haybusak University and EKKA signed a cooperation agreement based on which and in accordance with the RA Government Decree N 978 as of 30.06.2011 as well as with the 10th Provision of the Regulation on “RA Education Institutions Implementing Professional Educational Programs and State Accreditation of their Professions”, the institutional accreditation of Yerevan Haybusak University will be carried out by the EKKA which is registered in the European Quality Assurance Registrar (EQAR) and is a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). 

The staff members of the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC), Vice-rectors, Deans of the faculties as well as representatives of teaching and administrative staff of Yerevan Haybusak University were among participants of the training.

TRAINING ORGANIZED BY EDUCATION QUALITY ASSURANCE CENTER OF YEREVAN HAYBUSAK UNIVERSITY

On 25 May 2018 the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC) of Yerevan Haybusak University organized a training which was conducted by Anna Sukiasyan (PhD in Biological Sciences, Associate Professor), Head of the EQAC, and by Narine Hovsepyan, Deputy Head of the EQAC.

During the training SWOT analysis and its importance in the process of institutional accreditation were reflected on, the concept of benchmarking as well as the data processing and analysis in the mentioned sphere were clarified.

The training was organized for the teaching staff members of all the faculties as well as for the staff members responsible for quality assurance.

The trainers clarified the questions given by the participants and had discussions on them.

TRAINING OF YOUNG LECTURERS OF HAYBUSAK UNIVERSITY

In March-April, 2018 an online course “To learn to teach; university Pedagogical technologies” took place by Diana Balasanyan, Head of International Relations of Yerevan Haybusak University, Doctor of Philology.

The course was based on recent achievements of pedagogical thinking and included modern principles of teaching which is based on student-centered approach.

The course was especially designed for young lecturers for helping them to efficiently communicate with students and cooperating with them create an atmosphere free from the threat of failing; and overcome the frequent obstacles occurring in the process of university teaching-learning.

The participants were active in the discussions of the raising questions. They did tasks providing feedbacks, cleared out the questions bothering them for improving their pedagogical skills.

The last class was held in “face-to-face” format. The participants had an opportunity to get to know Dr. Balasanyan in person and sum up the online course in a warm atmosphere.

TRAINING ORGANIZED BY EDUCATION QUALITY ASSURANCE CENTER

On 4 April 2018 by the initiative of the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC) of Yerevan Haybusak University, a training on “Mechanisms of Extracting Learning Outcomes” was organized for the teaching and administrative staff of all the faculties of the University. The training was conducted by Hayk Petrosyan, Professor and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, who is a QA responsible staff member and a teacher of the Faculty of Humanities. The participants had an active discussion about learning outcomes and carried out practical activities.

On 21 March 2018 Hayk Petrosyan, lecturer of the Faculty of Humanitits, Professor and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, QA responsible staff member of Yerevan Haybusak University, with the initiation of the Education Quality Assurance Center conducted a training on “Procedures and Mechanisms of Quality Assurance” for the academic and administrative staff members of all the faculties.

The participants got better acquainted with the quality assurance procedures, functioning mechanisms and had a chance to address questions that interest them to the trainer around which active discussions were held.

TRAINING ORGANIZED BY EDUCATION QUALITY ASSURANCE CENTER

On 12 March 2018, by the initiative of the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC) of Yerevan Haybusak University, a training on “The Structure and Content of the Study Program in ‘Law’ ” was organized for the teaching and administrative staff of all the faculties of the University. The training was conducted by Geghetsik Grigoryan, PhD in Law, Associate Professor, who is a QA responsible staff member and the Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Relations. The participants of the training actively discussed the format and structure of study programs as well as clarified a number of content related questions.

TRAINING OF STAFF MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE FOR EDUCATION QUALITY ASSURANCE AND TEACHING STAFF

On 23 February 2018 the Education Quality Assurance Center (EQAC) organized and coordinated the training for staff members responsible for education quality assurance and for the teaching staff of Yerevan Haybusak University. The trainer was Anahit Harutyunyan, Professor and Doctor of Philological Sciences, who is the President of the International Academy of Education. Anna Sukiasyan (PhD in Biological Sciences, Associate Professor), Head of the EQAC, as well as Narine Hovsepyan, Deputy Head of the EQAC, provided respective information and coordinated discussions.

ENGLISH COURSE TRAINING FOR ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

During the first semester of the 2017-2018 academic year the Education Quality Assurance Center organized yet another training of the English language for the academic and administrative staff of Haybusak University. The classes gave a chance to develop and enrich writing and speaking skills.

The participants are impatiently looking forward to the next training.
