Students council

The University Student Council was established in 1991. Although its vision has evolved over the years, the Council has remained faithful to its founding principle: protecting students’ interests and rights and ensuring their participation in the University’s governing bodies.

The Student Council is an elected, self-governing representative body of the student community. It is non-political and non-partisan.

Throughout its activities, the Student Council consistently strives to improve the quality of education, foster a student-centered environment, promote constructive relationships between students and faculty members, and create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning. Much of the University’s cultural and sporting life is shaped by the Council’s initiatives.

Through the efforts of the Student Council, Armenia’s first “Miss Student” competition was organized.

The interuniversity student competition “Intellect of the Year” has been successfully held at the University for many years, bringing together representatives from almost all higher education institutions in Armenia.

With the support of the Student Council, the University organizes community clean-up campaigns and tree-planting initiatives in Yerevan and, at times, in various locations across Armenia.

Environmental issues are also a key focus of the Student Council, with environmental awareness and related activities being regularly promoted throughout the University.

In recent years, the Student Council has placed particular emphasis on student volunteering, encouraging University students to participate in various volunteer groups and initiatives. One notable example was the volunteer work organized by the Council in clinics across Armenia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The University Student Council has participated on numerous occasions in conferences and forums organized in Armenia and at universities throughout the Armenian diaspora.

The number of international students at the University continues to grow each year, making their integration into the university community an important priority.

The Student Council plays a significant role in this process. Recently, it brought together the council representing international students and the council representing Armenian students to make the integration and adjustment of students arriving from abroad easier and more welcoming. For international students, the Student Council organizes excursions and nature trips, introducing them to Armenia’s natural beauty and historical and cultural landmarks. It also helps international students navigate the country’s diverse cultural scene, discover its heritage, and develop a deeper appreciation and love for Armenia.

Today, Yerevan Haybusak University is home to more than 2,500 students from Armenia and over 30 countries worldwide.
